Spring-Windy Season

When Spring springs in the Rocky Mountains, specifically ..here in North Central New Mexico, it brings tremendous winds on a daily basis. This year, in February ..the daytime temperatures reaching the 70's and even in the 80's ..and the night dipping back into the 30's and even 20's generates a major sirocco set of winds.

It's almost mid-April and although here the snow-melts have yet to begin, we've had very strong winds for weeks. It'll continue til it ends and to guess is really only relying on hope. Usually it doesn't end til the snow-melt has made the washes a torrent and Summer is at hand.

They'll start in mid morning and last thru the afternoon, usually calming in the evening when the temperatures drop back down ..and all is calm.

Not always! The winds can and do last thru the night. From a local ..who explains that the winds dry the high desert from the Winter ..it's natural state ..and so it does.
