Phyllis Chase

I met Phyllis Chase while biking from NMO to Abiquiu. She was just North of Santa Rosa Lima de Abiquiu ruins, painting the Chama River (below). She just made it, as it took her a long time to get back to Vermont because of the weather on the road!  But..

'Her plein air painting has taken her around the world. Her first trip to Northern New Mexico was in 2003; she has returned to paint several times since, and by the end of her most recent painting trip in the spring of 2011, she realized that it was to Northern New Mexico she would return, to set down new roots.'
