Ahhh..Los Alamos!
Braving both the year 2000 fire and the very recent Las Conchas wildfire ..a lot of L-A area hikes have been burned!
The Rim Trail, both Easy and accessible runs parallel to the Los Alamos Airport ..but on the other side of the road. There are trail heads just before the airport and after if the airport is on your right ..and they are well marked from the road.
Furthermore, it's an asphalt trail, only 1 1/2 miles with major views of one of Los Alamos' canyons. The town was built on 5 or 6 canyon tops on ..I believe The Pajarito Plateau at just over 7,000 ft.
Even though easy there and back of about 3 miles ..bare in mind that it's at just in excess of 7,000 feet. So, hydrate well before and during ..preferably with a sports drink for the electrolytes!
