Albuquerque

Sandia Mountains overlooking Albuquerque taken over Rio Grande from Bernalillo-By Wiki

New Mexico's immortal Tony Hillerman once wrote that within just a few miles of the vortex that is Route 40 running East-West and Route 25 running North-South lies New Mexico's only urban center!

That is true, but since T-H's statement, Albuquerque has grown a lot!

Another quote from a Rt 66 roadie ..that back in the late 1940's, Albuquerque was a gas station and a pie shop! Well..I have to say that nowadays, every gas station franchise and any pie shop franchise would want to have several locations here! 'You can get anything you want..' and it's true that Albuquerque is now a big town ..and with it's near neighbors..Rio Rancho and Bernalillio ..it's nearly 1 million strong!

I go down to Albuquerque every Saturday on Tennis Business and really enjoy it! Fact..Jack in the Box just installed 4 locations..and I'm on um! The fact that no matter which way you turn your head, there are amazing landscapes, colors and things make it that more amazing! From it's unique New Mexico cuisine to it's world renowned events like the every October International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque has it all!

This city section of NewMexicoOutdoor.com will be months/years in the making! But..since I'm down there once a week, I want to write most of the reports my-own-self!
